Domains Glossary: DNS Transfer
DNS Transfer.
Every domain name has a series of DNS or Domain Name Server settings, these allow a domain name to be directed to a hosting company.
DNS settings take the format of domain names. The DNS settings for www.discountdomainsuk.com are
NS0.SERVE.CO.UK
NS0.SERVE.NET.UK
These are also know as the primary and Secondary DNS server settings. If the primary DNS server is not available the secondary one is contacted.
A domain name can have up to four DNS settings but the third and fourth are very rarely used as most hosting companies have secure servers.
