Domains Glossary: Renewal scams
A number of companies are known to use underhand tricks to get business.
One such trick is to send unsolicited renewal notices to domain owners whose domains are due or close to their renewal dates.
The notices are very carefully produced and don't say who the renewal is to be with.
They are usually expensive and involve a transfer away from the current registrar.
Discount Domains has a policy of refusing to allow transfers made on such a basis, unless the customer is 100% certain of their decision to leave.
